Hey EXPERT, it’s called series and parallel, not “positive and negative configuration” and “all the positive to one terminal and all the negative to the other.”

    Dear Brother,
I have seen you video, and really appreciate for this. I will be very much obliged to you, if you kindly help me to know – what do I need for 1(one) Kw system for my house. Kindly note I am living in Karachi, Pakistan.
Waiting for your kind reply please.
    Kind regards.
    Your faithfully,

Perhaps my book “small scale solar energy systems” (lulu website, nr 10542952) can help you to solve this problem. Dont tie the positives and negatives together.

  • cchanderson says:

@samcamfilms Hope you got that right DO NOT TIE THE BLACKS WITH THE REDS KEEP THEM SEPARATE.

  • cchanderson says:

@samcamfilms Tie the positives and negatives (usually Red pos black neg) together from each panel. You want to make a parallel circuit to increase the amps keep voltage the same. Series circuits increase voltage amps stay the same. This is basic electronics 101…Google series circuit and parallel circuit…you want parallel.

Hi guys check out my offgrid workshop which runs on solar panels and a generator.

will this battery work well, XS Power D3100
    with some solar paners?

Awesome Video, I have 12v 120 Watt Panel and a 12v 80 watt panel, what do i need to do to have a total output of 12v into my solar controller? not sure on the wireing there..

    Excellent method.

  • Cryptocaryon says:

I noticed how you said that it’s not good to directly connect a higher voltage pv module to a lower voltage motor… How would you get max current from a pv module without raising the voltage? How would u connect a pair of modules with a total of 34 volts/ .54a max(12-17v each) to a motor that runs 6-12v/.5a??

  • purplemutantas says:

@mr00engineer I just recently got into solar power, so I may be incorrect. I don’t have my battery yet, so I haven’t tested this. My solar charge controller needs a minimum of 13 volts to charge the battery. If your panel puts out 18-20 volts in good sun, then it should put out 13 volts in marginal sun. I am not sure if there is any other good reason for 18 volts. From what I have seen, 12 volt panels will go up to 21 or 22 volts in full sun. My charge controller will take up to 22 volts.

  • mr00engineer says:

@GREENPOWERSCIENCE Thanks for your valuable informations ,but why 18v is the goal for charging 12v?

Can you mix series and parallel wiring if you need to increase both voltage and amps?
